The Results
Since we were nearing Christmas,
the other two groups chose Christmas themes for their productions. One
group featured Beavis and Butthead impersonations ripping on a “Night
Before Christmas” show they were “watching” on TV.
The other group made a “Night Before Christmas” reading
using unusual Christmas-style calypso music as background.
Neither of the other two groups
wanted to go first, so Galactic went first. After some positive comments,
Beavis and Butthead went next, then Calypso Christmas. I don’t
mind saying that the differences between Galactic and the other two
were comparable to the Showcase Showdown in Price is Right, where the
first Showcase is the OK one, and the second is the awesome one. Well,
I have to admit that Galactic was the awesome one. The other two shows
were just OK, and while mine borrowed heavily from Star Wars and Star
Trek, it had a more original story than The Night Before Christmas and
Beavis and Butthead. Dave Thompson practically said it was the best
thing he had ever heard, and we all got an A. Also, the class was very
surprised to hear their professor appear as Barth Hornet in the production.
